I’m writing an account of a holiday my wife and I had in China last year. I’ve broken it down into four parts, one for each area we visited: Bejing, Xi’an, Yangshuo and Shanghai. I hope I can make it sound as interesting as it was in person.
Back around 1990 my wife and I decided to buy an old removal house and have it transported to a five acre block of land near Gympie.
Queues, everywhere you go, be it a bank, a chemist, a hot bread shop, Dan Murphy’s or Bunnings, you are forced to wait in a bloody queue to be served. Even for a meal you must wait in line until a table becomes vacant. At the servo you must queue to pay for your petrol, [...]
They are atrocious, aren’t they? It’s the driving habits of motorists I’m talking about. There’s a don’t care attitude on the roads now. People seem to jump in their cars and point their nose towards wherever and that’s it.
It all began when my wife and I decided to venture up to the Maroochydore Plaza shopping centre one Saturday to watch a movie and have lunch in the mall afterwards. What could go wrong with such a simple exercise, you may wonder?
