The Gillard government says that we need to apply a carbon (dioxide) tax because human-induced emissions are driving up the earth’s temperature. Most of their climate advice comes from the UN’s IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel On Climate Change). The IPCC get their data from computer models. Modelling is supposed to predict the rate of warming according to the amount of carbon dioxide in the air, but the models have failed miserably as temperatures have been flat for the last sixteen years. Many independent scientists (those not receiving government grants) maintain that the world is now entering a cooling phase.

Climate alarmism is still pushed on us by the shameless mainstream media, but has slowed considerably as the public become more sceptical of global warming hysteria.
